How Does A Manual Butterfly Valve Work?

A manual butterfly valve controls fluid flow using a rotating disc within a valve body. The valve is operated manually with a lever or handwheel. When turned, the disc rotates, opening or closing the valve. In the closed position, the disc blocks fluid flow, while in the fully open position, it allows unrestricted passage. The operator can adjust flow by positioning the disc at different angles. The valve has a resilient seat or liner for sealing and typically operates with a quarter-turn motion. This simple and efficient design allows for easy flow control in various applications.
