About product

Compound steel grating is commonly used in marine applications due to its durability and ability to withstand harsh conditions. The sealed surface of the pattern plate helps to prevent the accumulation of water, debris, and other substances, making it suitable for marine environments.

In marine applications, this type of steel bar grating is often used for ship decks, offshore platforms, docks, and other marine structures. The composite surface provides a stable and slip-resistant platform for workers and equipment, ensuring safety in marine operations.

The degree of pattern plate composition in this steel bar grating refers to the combination of different types of steel plates used to create the grating structure. The commonly used combinations include:

  • Bottom Layer: For the bottom layer, steel grid plates such as FG323/40/100, FG323/30/100, or FG253/60/100 are commonly utilized. These grid plates provide structural support and strength to the grating. The numbers in the combination represent the specific dimensions and spacing of the steel bars in the grid plate.
  • Decorative Pattern Plate: On top of the bottom layer, a decorative pattern plate is added to enhance the visual appeal of the grating. The standard thickness for the pattern plate is 3 mm. However, based on customer requirements, the thickness can be customized to 4 mm, 5 mm, or 6 mm for specific applications.

Two Types Of Compound Steel Grating

There are two common types of compound steel bar grating based on the composition of the sealed surface and the transverse steel grid plate:

  • Welded Compound Steel Grating: In this type, the sealed surface of the pattern plate is welded to the transverse steel grid plate. The pattern plate and grid plate are joined together through welding, creating a strong and rigid composite grating. This steel grating offers excellent load-bearing capacity and durability.
  • Press-Locked Compound Steel Grating: The pattern plate-sealed surface of the steel bar grating is pressed and locked into the transverse steel grid plate. The pattern plate and grid plate are interlocked using high-pressure processing, eliminating the need for welding. Press-locked compound grating provides a smooth and aesthetically pleasing surface, while still maintaining good strength and stability.

The Composite Mesh Of Steel Bar Grating

In the composite mesh of steel bar grating, there are two common configurations:

  • Front or Bottom Welded Steel Mesh: That means a welded steel mesh is attached to the front or bottom of the steel grid plate. This mesh board serves as a protective layer, preventing small pieces from falling through the gaps of the steel bar grating. It finds applications in environments such as granaries, restaurants, and warehouses, where it helps to prevent the entry of small animals like mice.

The welded steel mesh provides additional safety and containment, making the grating suitable for situations where finer materials or small objects need to be contained within the grating structure.

  • Steel Grid Plate with Selectable Steel Mesh: In this configuration, the steel grid plate itself serves as the base plate, and different types of steel mesh can be selected and added to the grating as needed. This provides flexibility in choosing the appropriate steel mesh based on specific requirements such as load-bearing capacity, resistance to corrosion, or aesthetic considerations.

Compound Steel Grating Installation Method

The installation of compound steel grating can be carried out using the following methods:

  • Welding Method: The steel grid or step plate is welded directly onto the supporting steel structure. After welding, the welding places should be brushed with two coats of zinc-rich powder paint. This method provides a strong and permanent connection between the grating and the structure.
  • Installation Clip Method: Special installation clips designed for steel grid plates can be used for installation. These clips allow for easy installation and disassembly without damaging the galvanized layer of the grating. Each set of installation clips typically includes an upper clip, a lower clip, an M8 round-head bolt, and a nut. This method offers flexibility in installation and maintenance.
  • Optional Fastening Methods: Depending on the specific requirements, alternative fastening methods such as stainless steel installation clips or bolt connections can be provided.
  • Installation Clearance: The recommended installation clearance for the steel grating is generally 100mm. This clearance allows for proper installation and ensures sufficient space for drainage and debris removal.
  • Secure and Reliable Installation: It is crucial to ensure that the installation of the steel grating is solid and reliable. Regular inspections should be conducted to check for loose installation clips and to prevent them from coming off. If the grating is subject to vibration, it is advisable to weld it or add rubber pads for additional stability.
