Product Detail

The API Floating Ball Valve is equipped with a ball as its closing element. This ball rotates around the center line of the valve body to control the flow by either opening or closing the valve. It is important to note that ball valves are not suitable for throttling applications and are primarily used for cutting off, distributing, and changing the flow of pipeline intermediates.

When installing a ball valve, it is generally recommended to position it horizontally within the pipeline. This orientation ensures optimal performance and efficient operation.

Furthermore, the selection of materials for the ball valve is crucial to ensure compatibility with specific media. Different materials can be chosen based on the nature of the fluid being handled. For example, suitable materials may include those appropriate for water, steam, oil, nitric acid, acetic acid, oxidation mediums, urea, and various other media.

  • 2 Pieces/3 Pieces Body: The valve body is constructed in either a 2-piece or 3-piece configuration. The 2-piece body consists of two main pieces that are bolted together, while the 3-piece body consists of three main pieces. These designs offer advantages in terms of assembly, maintenance, and accessibility.
  • Full & Reduced Bore: The API Floating Ball Valve is available in both full and reduced bore options. Full bore valves have a larger internal diameter, allowing for maximum flow capacity. Reduced bore valves have a smaller internal diameter, which can be suitable for applications where flow capacity is not a primary concern.

  • Low Fluid Resistance: The valve has minimal fluid resistance, with a resistance coefficient equivalent to a pipe segment of the same length. This characteristic ensures efficient flow and minimizes energy loss.
