Marine Side Scuttle & Porthole

About product

Our marine porthole windows are widely used on ocean-going vessels and naval ships, and are also suitable for inland waterway vessels. They provide lighting, ventilation, and visibility for compartments while enhancing the vessel’s overall aesthetics and safety.

  • Type A Heavy-Duty: Highest pressure resistance, usually equipped with an internal storm cover. Suitable for high-watertight areas, such as main deck compartments or critical operational spaces, ensuring safety in harsh sea conditions.
  • Type B Medium-Duty: Medium pressure resistance, storm cover optional. Suitable for standard compartments and superstructures, balancing safety and cost-effectiveness.
  • Type C Light-Duty: Lower pressure resistance, no storm cover. Suitable for non-critical compartments or superstructures, providing basic lighting and ventilation, with lightweight and flexible installation.

Product Detail

Marine Side Scuttle & Ship Porthole Windows

Our ship porthole window frames are made of high-quality carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloy, and can be treated with anti-corrosion coating or anodizing according to environmental conditions to ensure excellent durability in high-salt and high-humidity marine environments. Glass types can be selected based on functional requirements, including tempered safety glass, fire-resistant glass, or electrically heated glass, further enhancing the safety and applicability of the windows.

Through rigorous design, manufacturing, and testing, our marine porthole windows meet international standards in watertightness, structural strength, fire resistance, and durability, ensuring vessel safety in various harsh sea conditions.

  • Watertightness: The windows are equipped with storm covers that effectively prevent seawater ingress even if the glass is damaged, protecting the interior compartments. Type A and Type B windows undergo strict watertightness testing to ensure compartments remain dry under severe sea conditions.
  • Structural Strength: The windows feature a circular design that evenly distributes external pressure and avoids stress concentration at corners, significantly enhancing pressure resistance. This design not only improves reliability under wave impact or pressure but also extends service life.
  • Fire Resistance: For tankers and other vessels with specific fire protection requirements, the windows comply with relevant fire-resistance standards, such as A-O class regulations. In the event of a fire, the windows provide effective protection, ensuring the safety of the vessel and personnel.

Additionally, our marine side scuttle feature rational design and easy installation. Custom sizes and non-standard solutions are available to meet the specific requirements of different vessel types and compartments.

Heavy & Medium Porthole Windows

  • Marine heavy side suttles can be used on seagoing ships at positions below the bulkhead deck or freeboard deck, within permitted side openings above the summer load waterline, and in locations requiring watertightness and airtightness.
  • Marine medium side scuttles (portholes) are suitable for installation on passenger ship bulkhead decks or freeboard decks above the ship’s side or at the ends of superstructures. For non-passenger ships, they are used on both sides and at the ends of the first tier of superstructures above the freeboard deck.
