Ship Gastight Doors

A marine gastight door is an essential protective facility installed on the bulkhead of ship compartments. It ensures effective compartment isolation, prevents gas leakage, and guarantees overall ship safety as well as a stable operating environment. With rigorous design, manufacturing, and testing, our gastight doors provide comprehensive protection against explosion, leakage, and fire, making them indispensable safety equipment for modern ships and offshore installations.

Ship Gastight Door Structural Features

  • Ship Gastight Door Door Leaf: Typically made of steel or stainless steel plates, with internal insulation and soundproof materials (such as rock wool). The surface is coated with anti-corrosion paint and reinforced with stiffeners to enhance rigidity and impact resistance.
  • Door Frame: Generally constructed with channel steel or I-beam structures, fixed to the bulkhead by welding or bolts, ensuring structural stability and reliability.
  • Sealing System: Equipped with high-performance sealing strips (such as EPDM) or intumescent fireproof strips, providing airtight, fireproof, and soundproof performance when closed, ensuring no light penetration or gas leakage.
  • Hinge Design: Some models adopt a double-hinge structure (main + auxiliary hinge), distributing pressure evenly when closing, thereby improving sealing reliability and service life.
  • Locking Device: Typically fitted with multi-point compression handles or wheel handles for easy operation, enabling uniform pressure sealing and enhanced airtightness.

Marine Gastight Advantages

  • Gas Isolation: Effectively prevents the flow of flammable, explosive, and toxic gases between compartments, enhancing overall ship safety.
  • Fire Resistance: Certain gastight doors are available with fireproof ratings, meeting SOLAS and major classification society requirements.
  • Corrosion Resistance: The marine
  • door surface undergoes sandblasting, priming, and anti-corrosion coating, ensuring long-term durability in harsh marine environments with high salt and humidity.
  • Wide Application: Commonly used on LPG carriers, chemical tankers, oil tankers, offshore drilling platforms, and FPSOs, as well as other low-flashpoint or hazardous cargo vessels.
